INGREDIENTS
For modak
- 1 cup Australian Macadamia Nuts
- ¼ cup milk powder
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tsp rose syrup
For garnising
- Rose petals
- Nuts of choice
- Silver vark
INSTRUCTIONS
- Grind Australian Macadamia Nuts into a fine powder and set aside.
- In a pan, combine sugar and water, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once the syrup starts boiling, lower the heat and gradually add the nut powder and milk powder, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Divide the mixture into two bowls.
- Add rose syrup to one bowl and mix until the mixture turns pink.
- Leave the other bowl plain for the white modaks.
- Grease your hands and modak mold with a bit of ghee.
- Press a small portion of the white mixture into the mold, followed by a layer of the pink mixture.
- Gently remove the shaped modak and place it on a greased plate.
- Allow the modaks to cool and set for 15-20 minutes.
- Garnish with rose petals, nuts of your choice, and silver vark before serving.
